It does seem close to what I am looking for. That is no problem for me but I wonder if that string is a personal ID or is more of a connection data string which would change if the same user changes IP location, etc.
#Vsee for linux software
Well, the whole point of Tox is security and privacy so it would be interesting to know how it works rather than just trusting the software to not send all your info to some hacker in Russia or Zoom.Īt any rate, I was reading that users exchange out-of-band a 76 character string of hex digits. I cannot comment on video quality, the other party does not have a webcam. To connect with a contact, you need to exchange a long string of numbers via other means. I don't know how it handles the connection either, but then I don't need to: the software handles it, the GUI is simple. Mon 7:07 amI've tried out qTox between two computers running Linux. I am looking for a simple, single purpose program. I do not want to use a huge program aimed at other purposes and which by the way has videoconferencing. Again, I am looking for something simple and basic, small footprint, low resources requirement, basic video and audio plus whiteboard is enough. I cannot believe there is not an open source, simple videoconferencing software for Linux out there. They all look look like huge projects focused on business meetings with large number of people and many features I do not need. g_software I can see a lot of options but not one looks like what I am looking for. So I am looking for videoconferencing software for Linux.

Later, with Windows I used VSee and it also worked well for me but, unfortunately, VSee does not work with Linux.

Simple and useful but progress wiped it out of the way. Basic video conference plus whiteboard and desktop sharing. It was simple to use and it had the features I wanted and needed.

I started using Netmeeting with Windows 95 over twenty years ago and I loved it.
